A good position does not only depend on your choice of keywords. It also depends on how you position your keywords on your page site, and the number of external pages that link to quality. However, choosing the wrong keywords can get rid of the optimization the whole search engine strategy, and therefore need to invest a few hours and make sure you do it right.
Let's start with the page Home. Watch carefully and write down words and phrases that best define your site. Try to form two or three word phrases, since competition of a keyword word is fierce, and it is virtually impossible to get a higher position for them. So from now on, talking about words key, not words. Once you've developed your list of potential keywords that are ready for the next step: to analyze the supply and demand for those sentences key and choose the best (those with good demand and not enough supply).
First, check the demand for selected keywords. For this, go to the Overture search term suggestion tool or go to Google Suggest Keyword
You write each of the key phrases you have chosen and see how many people searching for these terms. In addition to telling you if you have chosen keywords are popular, this tool will show other keywords that can not be thought, which may even be more relevant to your site.
For example, if the first key phrase was "Italian Restaurant", the search term Council Tool will also show other popular search terms like: "Gourmet Italian Restaurant", "Northern Italian Restaurant" "Italian Restaurant Pizzeria," Italian restaurant in Miami ", etc. You can also try different keywords, for example:" Italian Cuisine "And get more specific keywords, like" Good Italian Kitchen, "" Italian Cuisine Miami "," Northern Italian Cuisine "" Fine Dining Italian Kitchen, "" Gourmet Italian Cuisine ", etc.
What we have done is to validate and expand its group of popular a la carte, potential keywords for your website. For example, choosing "restaurant Italian "certainly only hurt you. There are so many that your chances of appearing in an advantageous position within the search results are quite rare.
That said, get the list of keywords, go to Google and type in each search box. Enter keyword quotes (To filter out less relevant results) and see how many results each individual query produces, so a note of a relatively small number of results (less competition). To stay with the key phrase:
If "Gourmet Italian Restaurant" is the key phrase that best meets these three criteria, that will become your primary key phrase. For best results, you can choose key words to make your second page more relevant to more niche specific. For example, if your restaurant is located in Miami, we can consider "Miami", according to a key phrase. Once you choose the key phrases to the page home, do the same with other pages on your site.
After that, you will have the keywords you select and optimize your pages largely to them. This is to put in strategic places in the title, headers and body of each page, as we shall see Part II: Optimizing pages website.
